Chapter 1 · Verse 32

Arjuna Visada Yoga

अर्जुनविषादयोग

न काङ्क्षे विजयं कृष्ण न च राज्यं सुखानि च | किं नो राज्येन गोविन्द किं भोगैर्जीवितेन वा ||१-३२||

na kāṅkṣe vijayaṃ kṛṣṇa na ca rājyaṃ sukhāni ca . kiṃ no rājyena govinda kiṃ bhogairjīvitena vā ||1-32||

In plain words

This calls you to feel the emptiness of seeking worldly success and pleasures when your heart is in pain. You are being asked to look beyond selfish desires and prepare your mind for bhakti, the path of loving devotion to a higher purpose. True fulfillment never comes from external victories, but from surrendering your ego.

Translation

1.32 I desire no victory, nor empire, nor pleasures. What have we to do with empire, O Krsna, or enjoyment or even life ?
