You are being guided to seek true happiness by refusing to harm those bound to you by love. Arjuna pleads that slaying his own kinsmen cannot bring any real joy. He feels that violating his family dharma, or moral duty, for temporary power is a mistake, as true peace cannot be achieved when your mind is clouded by maya, the illusion of worldly attachment.
1.37 Therefore, it is not befitting that we slay our kin, the sons of Dhrtarastra. For if we kill our kinsmen, O Krsna, how indeed can we be happy?
