Chapter 1 · Verse 30

Arjuna Visada Yoga

अर्जुनविषादयोग

गाण्डीवं स्रंसते हस्तात्त्वक्चैव परिदह्यते | न च शक्नोम्यवस्थातुं भ्रमतीव च मे मनः ||१-३०||

gāṇḍīvaṃ sraṃsate hastāttvakcaiva paridahyate . na ca śaknomyavasthātuṃ bhramatīva ca me manaḥ ||1-30||

In plain words

This encourages you to accept your feelings of complete helplessness when your mind is spinning out of control. When your outer strength slips away, you realize that worldly power cannot save you from inner turmoil. To find peace, you must look beyond this physical crisis toward jnana, the spiritual wisdom that reveals your eternal soul.

Translation

1.30 The bow Gandiva slips from my hand and my skin is burning. I can stand no longer. My mind seems to reel.
