Jnana Yoga

ज्ञानयोग

एवं परम्पराप्राप्तमिमं राजर्षयो विदुः | स कालेनेह महता योगो नष्टः परन्तप ||४-२||

evaṃ paramparāprāptamimaṃ rājarṣayo viduḥ . sa kāleneha mahatā yogo naṣṭaḥ parantapa ||4-2||

In plain words

You need to realize that profound spiritual truths can easily be lost over time if they are not actively practiced. When people forget their true dharma, which is their righteous duty, the ancient wisdom fades. You are being invited to revive this sacred connection in your own life today.

Translation

4.2 Thus handed down in succession, the royal sages knew this (Karma Yoga). But with long lapse of time, O Arjuna, that Yoga was lost to the world.

Meaning

The royal sages Men who were kings and at the same time sages also learnt this Yoga. Arjuna could burn or harass his foes like the sun by the heat of his valour and power. Hence the name Parantapa.
